Sad times

Fans of Us & Them…

It’s been a little while since we wrote you a more serious blog about what were doing. So we felt now was as good time as any.

For the past 2 years Us & Them have grown on a scale that of us expected. We have been thrown onto some of the greatest stages in the South of England and been reviewed by some of the most respected people in the industry. Don’t get us wrong… we love it and in part have you guys to thank for it.

We have thrashed out some our most well known tracks in venues like The Engine Rooms, Concorde 2, The Borderline, the Pressure Point, The Plymouth Hub, The Hawth, to mention but a few.
And we have some of our greatest gigs at places closer to home in the less well known venues like Hazelwick and Dormans.
We are at the stage where gig offerings all over the UK are common place and up until this time we have not been in a position to oblige and spread the U&T vibe much further than the surrounding area.

There comes a time in every bands development when tough decisions need to me made. And it seems this time is ours. Given our development over the past 12-18 months and the locations we are being offered not so infrequently the band have had long difficult chats about availability and future prospects.

Mark, our drummer for the past 2 years and well-known local drummer for the past 4 or 5 years is the oldest member of the band. His job does not allow him as much flexibility and time off that long distance mid-week gigs require, ones that the band so desire and are being offered on a more constant basis. Adam, James and Jack are still in the fortunate position of having jobs that allow flexibility that the ever growing U&T need to ensure continuing growth.

The time has come for Mark to very reluctantly hand over the baton to a new face behind the kit. He doesn’t want to go and believe us he is in no rush to do so but after lengthy talks over the past 3 months has taken the unselfish decision that his departure might (and hopefully will) be the best thing for the ever-developing band. He hasn’t left already and does not plan to leave until sometime in the new year but we have all mutually agreed that the hunt for a new drummer should start sooner rather than later. Mark will continue playing all our up and coming gigs and any future bookings for the time being. The band are still writing fantastic, fresh and exciting new material and are still keen to get into the studio again sometime in the not too distant future. Mark will continue to be a massive friend of the band and we hope, make frequent guest appearances.

Please continue to show your much appreciated support during this difficult time for the band. We are all massively upset that this decision has had to be made but as was said earlier we must do what is best for Us & Them!
We hope we can continue to grow in the way we have been with some pretty exciting stuff planned for 2009 including: loads more gigging up and down the country, a brand new e.p and hopefully a nationwide tour!!

Thanks for the ongoing support and we really do love ya all Keep checking back for more big news soon!

Until then...

Much Love 2 ya all

Us & Them
xxxxx
